Developer & tester guide
Test the HereKey MCP connection
Use a separate preview connection to try updates in your own ChatGPT account. For normal installation, follow the HereKey for ChatGPT guide.
Connection settings
- Name
- HereKey Concierge Preview
- Preview MCP URL
- https://herekey.app/concierge-preview/mcp
- Authentication
- OAuth
Connect and test
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins. Choose the plus button, then Add custom MCP server, if your account or workspace allows it.
- Enter the preview name and URL above, select OAuth, review the connection notice, and create the connection.
- Choose Continue with HereKey. Approve in your own HereKey app, then return to the original browser page to finish connecting.
- Start a new conversation and select HereKey Concierge Preview. Try: “How much would it cost to fix a leaking kitchen faucet at home? Don’t send a request yet.”
The preview uses the live service API. Sending a request can create a real quote and notification. Use your own account and contact details, and do not approve or pay unless you intend to book the service.
Useful checks
- Try your saved home address, a fresh app location, and a different supplied address.
- For a linked account, the concierge should not need your phone number to deliver the request.
- If you approve in HereKey, return to the original connection page. For an expired link, start a fresh connection in ChatGPT.
- Start a new conversation after an update. Refresh the connection’s tools when tool definitions change; reconnect only if prompted or when testing authorization.
Testing the production endpoint instead
Use a clearly named separate connection with OAuth and https://herekey.app/mcp. Production and preview run separate releases and maintain separate connections. Do not switch your normal connection just to test a preview.
You do not need a business API key, secret, member ID, or token. Never paste credentials into a conversation. Keep ChatGPT permission prompts enabled. Official OpenAI MCP setup instructions.
